There may be occasions, where work is identified by an Engineer onsite as he is carrying out other jobs or doing his daily routine walks. They can create ad-hoc WOs which will automatically be approved and assigned to them. Also, in the background, an associated SR will be created in line with the WO numbering. So, if a self-fix WO is created say WO0095-1, then a SR ref SR0095 will be generated, and the WO will be linked to it. This way the Engineer does not have to contact the Help Desk to log a call.
To create a Self-Fix Work order, the user/engineer would select the following ‘Create Work Order’ menu option.
A blank Work Order screen will be displayed. The engineer will automatically be assigned to the WO, and he will have to fill out the following
- Short Description
- Full Description of the issue identified
- Related Property
- Location
- Asset (If asset affected)
- Category
- Priority
The areas that will have pre-populated are
- An internally identified check box will be ticked
- WO Type = Self-Fix
- Reported by and Affected Person will have the Engineer details
- Reported date
- Engineer name as the assigned person
Once the record is saved, the following view screen is displayed. You will notice that an associated SR will also be created and will be linked to the new WO. In this case WO0119-1 was created and SR0119 is also created.
